This was announced to the journalists by the Minister of transport and road infrastructure Vasile Botnari, noting that there are two options for the construction of this road, and the total length of the ring, which will relieve traffic flows in the capital, will be from 63 to 80 km, depending on the selected project.

The Minister stressed that the Chisinau ring road will consist of the six sections, three of which are already ready. After renovation and expansion to four lanes the roads will become part of the ring road. There are two alternative projects which shall be implemnetd in the nearest future. One of the options suggests that short detour length of 29 km will be located between Chisinau and Ialoveni.

The second option would be to start the ring road in Ialoveni, but extend it to 3 km, so that it passed through several villages of the Ialoveni region. The decision on the length of the ring road will be made after public discussion, and approval of the feasibility study.

The works on the extension of existing sites bypass to the South - East of Chisinau is scheduled to be completed until 2017. In particular, it is planned to repair parts from Orhei route to Ungheni, Orhei to Leuseni intersection, and from Leuseni intersection to Hincesti road. On these sections of the ring road will be four lanes and pedestrian crossings in the form of speed bumps. The implementation of these plans will cost more than EUR 50 million.
