OREANDA-NEWS.  September 15, 2014. The Infrastructure Ministry and the European Commission’s Support Group for Ukraine start cooperation on the implementation of the provisions of the Association Agreement with the EU in the transport sector.

The first introductory meeting of experts from both sides took place on 9 September at the Ministry with participation of Deputy Infrastructure Minister on European integration Oksana Reyter and Philippe Burghelle-Vernet, Head of Unit Internal Market, Aviation Agreements and Multilateral Relations.

The first step in stirring up this cooperation will become an analysis of introduced European requirements and standards in Ukrainian transport legislation and determining priorities in future work.

"The work of the Ministry of Infrastructure will focus on the development of draft legislative acts, which would take into account the requirements of EU legislation in the field of transport. Therefore, the Ministry of Infrastructure will be grateful for the analysis of these draft projects by the European party", - said Oksana Reyter.

The Deputy Minister noted that activities in the field of air transport will be formed in a separate plan in accordance with the directives contained in the Common Aviation Area Agreement.

Therefore, the Infrastructure Ministry will prepare for the EU experts information concerning each kind of transport, in particular, which EU directives have already been introduced in Ukraine, and which are to be implemented. In response, the Infrastructure Ministry expects the EU to hold analysis of the performed work, notably, on the fundamental draft laws in the motor, railway industries, the field of multimodal transportations, etc. In addition, the parties reached an agreement on further cooperation on updating the map of principal routes of the Trans European transport network (TEN-T)that passes through Ukraine, in particular, regarding the inclusion of inland waterways of Ukraine into it.

It should be noted, on April 9, this year, the European Commission decided to establish a Support Group for Ukraine, which targets providing support to our state in carrying out reforms, including in the framework of the implementation of the European Agenda for Reform in Ukraine.
