OREANDA-NEWS. It may be introduced limits of the operation of vehicles in Russia from July 1st of 2015. Draft amendments to the Law "On the road safety" is being developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The new law is explained by the need to ensure "compliance with the Russian parc of motor vehicles with modern technical and environmental requirements, as well as safety requirements."

According to the authors of the document, the updating of the vehicle park in Russia would permit to "improve significantly road safety and the environment on the Russian roads." Another result of the new law should be "the stimulating of the production of motor vehicles", which will bring the budgets of different levels the additional revenue from taxes and duties, wrote "RBK".

The certificate of Ministry of industry and trade emphasizes that the vast majority of cars in Russia are operated "outside the normal life." Old cars do not meet modern requirements, not only passive, active and environmentally friendly, but also the norms, which were designed originally because with the years the fatigue stress in the structure increases 1.4-2.5 times.

The current law "On the road safety" says nothing about the age of the car. The law only states that the owners of the vehicles involved in road traffic are required to maintain them in good technical condition and maintenance and repair of cars must ensure road safety. Operation of vehicles, if they have technical failures that endanger road safety, is prohibited by law.

According to the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", the average age of passenger cars in Russia is 12 years. At the same time foreign cars are much younger than produced domestically cars: 9 years compared to 14.9 years. Two thirds of the Russian-made cars are now moving on the roads of Russia, produced more than 10 years ago.
