OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2014. Ukraine International became the first Ukraine`s carrier designated as valid ACC3 – Air Cargo or Mail Carrier operating into the European Union from a Third Country Airport.

UIA has successfully completed the validation process for the European Union-initiated ACC3 security regulation in respect of its cargo and mail operations. Undertaken by an independent validator, certified by an EU regulator, the validation enables Ukraine International to grant uninterrupted secured services from Kyiv Boryspil International airport (KBP) into the EU.

The ACC3 designation is valid through to July 1, 2019.

“Security is UIA`s highest priority, – noted Alexander Suvorov, UIA Vice-President Aviation Security. – UIA aviation security standards applied when inspecting and screening cargo and mail fully comply with the EU security requirements. UIA intends to obtain ACC3 designation from other airports of Ukraine and thus to offer partners easier cargo and mail delivery solutions”.

“To obtain ACC3 status, the carrier must deliver a “Declaration of Commitments” setting out how it details and operationally delivers its aviation security responsibilities to the civil aviation authorities of the EU member state to whom it flies cargo and/or mail, – noted Peter Kukharchuk, UIA Cargo Director. – ACC3s are obliged to ensure that cargo and mail destined for the EU is screened or comes from a secure supply chain. We are proud of becoming the first and the only Ukraine`s carrier to have been designated the ACC3 status and thus to move towards accession to the EU’s Common Aviation Area”.

Since July 1, 2014, the EU regulations state that ACC3’s must be in possession of security verifications of their cargo and mail operations at the relevant non-EU airports.
