OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2014. The foreign trade turnover of Kazakhstan with the CU decreased by 22.4% during 7 months, Chairman of the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of National Economy Alikhan Smailov gave a briefing in Astana.

"Our foreign trade turnover with CU decreased slightly. This is mainly due to a decrease of foreign trade turnover with the countries of the Customs Union, primarily from Russia. Because now, there is a decline in economic growth and a sales slowdown for export products of Kazakhstan in Russia," A. Smailov said.

In particular, according to him, there is a decline in exports with Russia for a number of metals, as well as uranium and coal.

"Trade turnover with the CU amounted to USD 10 billion 739 million during January-July 2014 or 22.4% less than in January-July, 2013. Exports have amounted to USD 2 billion 915 million with 21% decrease due to lower demand for our products in Russia. Imports from the CU countries amounted to USD 7 billion 824 million or less for 22.9%. This was due to adjustment of tenge exchange rate, thereafter, imports have now reduced," head of the Statistics Committee summed up.
