OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2014. MCC Group and New Ireland Provincial Government of Papua New Guinea (PNG) signed a cooperative agreement on September 3, 2014. As per the agreement, both parties will conduct collaboration in the fields of infrastructure, road, bridge, port, school, hospital and public housing projects.

President Zhang Zhaoxiang of MCC and Sir CHAN Julius, Governor of New Ireland Province, held discussion prior to the signing ceremony. They reviewed the cooperative history and profound friendship between both parties, and exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation in the future.

Zhang Zhaoxiang extended warm welcome to the visiting guests, expressed gratitude to the friends of PNG for their essential support offered for the development of MCC Group in PNG, and made a briefing on the corporate profile of MCC Group. According to Zhang, MCC Group is not only one of the Top 500 Giants of the world, but also one of the key central enterprises of China. Its business scope mainly covers EPC contracting, real estate development, mining resources exploitation and equipment manufacturing. Up to now, MCC Group has undertaken a lot of works in various fields such as metallurgical engineering, civil works, mine engineering and transportation projects. During the past 10-year market exploration in PNG, MCC Group witnessed a satisfied business growth. As one of China’s largest investment projects in South Pacific Area, MCC Ramu NiCo Project was put into trial operation in last year and has been running well up to now, which has given us firm confidence in this regard. Zhang Zhaoxiang stated that, through implementation of Ramu Ni-Co Project, MCC Group has obtained sufficient understanding on the social and cultural environment of PNG, and accumulated rich experiences, which will be beneficial to the further business exploration of MCC Group in PNG. As MCC Group is seeking for more development opportunities in PNG, and New Ireland Province enjoys sound infrastructure and humanistic environment, Zhang expected both parties to take the cooperative agreement signing as the opportunity and redouble efforts on the collaboration in the future.

Sir CHAN Julius expressed gratitude to the hospitality extended by MCC Group, and made a detailed introduction to the general information and investment opportunities in New Ireland Province. According to the Governor, as one of the Top 500 Giants of the world, MCC Group is recognized for both remarkable competence and strategic perspective of vision, and thus has determined to explore business in PNG. The people of New Ireland Province are hospitable and there are lots of development opportunities in this region. He expected MCC Group to participate in the infrastructure and mining resource development, and the Provincial Government will offer essential support for this purpose. Through the sincere mutual cooperation, the Governor believed that MCC Group would make achievements for sure in New Ireland Province.

After the meeting and under the witness by Zhang Zhaoxiang, Sir CHAN Julius and the other leaders, the cooperative agreement was jointly signed by General Manager Zhu Yonggui of MCC International Group, Provincial Administrator AMANI Monovi at New Ireland Provincial Government, Chairman Tian Ye of the 19th China Metallurgical Construction Group (19MCC Group) and CEO PAWUT Lamiller of Economic Dept. at New Ireland Provincial Government.
