OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2014. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a work trip to Ahal Velayat to see the progress of the seasonal agricultural activities, the measures taken to improve farming practices and increase crop yields and the working conditions of tenant farmers.

During the trip the President visited a cotton field in Durun farmers association in Baharly Etrap. This portion of the field is leased by a farmer Gurbannazar Gurbannazarov. He expects to harvest 15 tons of cotton on his 5-hectare cotton field.

The Turkmen leader, who takes consistent measures to ensure the prosperous life, productive work and recreation of rural workers, talked to the tenant farmer. The President asked him about the condition of his cotton field, working conditions and opportunities provided to tenant farmers and their impact on the products of farmers' labour.

The Turkmen leader said that the support provided to agricultural workers had been significantly enhanced today. Tenant farmers efficiently use land, water, machinery and fertilizers. High quality seeds and other necessary materials are provided to farmers in full. The Turkmen leader emphasized that further task-oriented measures would be taken to improve the economic efficiency of the agro-industrial sector and guarantee the decent conditions of life and work to rural workers.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Chairperson of Mejlis, who were accompanying the Turkmen leader, went on the field and started to pick cotton, thus making their symbolic contribution to 'harman' of the tenant farmer.

The Turkmen leader came to the rural workers, who were harvesting 'white gold' on G. Gurbannazarov's field. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov talked to the members of the tenant's family and other participants in the cotton campaign about their living conditions and income.

Emphasizing that the state will continue to provide overall support to rural workers and introduce advanced technologies in the ago-industrial sector, the Turkmen leader noted that the policy measures were being taken to increase crop yields and income of farmers. The Turkmen leader emphasized that further measures would be taken to guarantee a prosperous life to rural workers, provide them with state-of-the-art agricultural machinery, fertilizers and water and produce different types of 'vitamins of fertility' in Turkmenistan in sufficient volume.

Noting that great importance was attached in our country to the construction of large-scale enterprises processing agricultural products and producing mineral fertilizer, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the Government would continue to provide assistance and support to tenant farmers, who work selflessly and grow rich harvests.

Then the President presented the gifts to the tenant farmers and cotton growers, who had chosen the noble profession of farmers. They expressed their sincere gratitude to the Turkmen leader.

The Turkmen leader wished good health and every success in their work to the farmers. Then the President bade them farewell and left the meeting venue.

During the trip the Turkmen leader could see the progress of work carried out on the territory of Baharly Etrap, the implementation of the national programme of reform and the measures to create new rural areas in the country.

The measures to allocate the plots of lands in rural areas for gardens and farms, establish the land fund for the construction of individual houses and provide concessional loans have led to the creation of modern rural areas meeting the spirit of the times. In this regard, it should be noted that the similar measures are being taken in Ahal Velayat.
