President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Central Square and the adjacent park area at the request of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Executive Secretary of the Office of the President of Turkmenistan and the Cabinet of Ministers Sh. Durdylyev to see the progress of landscaping activities.

As is known, the project for the improvement of the Central Square, which is to adorn the architectural look of Ashgabat, is being implemented by the French company VINCI Construction Grands Projets, one of the business partners of our country in the urban development sector.

When visiting the Central Square, the Turkmen leader inspected the progress of landscaping activities. The President could see trees of different species and ornamental shrubs planted along alleys and footpaths where flower beds and original lamps harmoniously combined with fountains so that the park ensemble would blend well with the architectural ensemble of that part of the white-marble capital city.

Focusing on the need to landscape and beautify that part of Ashgabat so that it would comply with its status of the historical centre of the capital city, the Turkmen leader emphasized the importance of creating the conditions conducive to recreation and leisure activities of citizens. The President gave specific instructions to create a favourable environment in that part of the city, build underground crossings, sidewalks, etc.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the modern requirements included a harmonious combination of newly built facilities with existing buildings in the centre of white-marble Ashgabat. It is important to take the specific features of each facility into consideration when designing construction projects and apply best international practices in combination with best traditions of the national art of building when implementing these projects. The Turkmen leader also emphasized the need to improve and beautify the territories adjacent to newly built facilities.

The Turkmen leader asked about the measures taken to implement the project for the reconstruction of the park area located between S. Turkmenbashi Avenue and A. Novai Street. The Turkmen leader dwelt upon the issues related to the improvement of the territory adjacent to the sculptural images of Ahalteke horses on the Central Square.

Emphasizing that the capital city of the country should be exemplary in all respects, the President instructed the high-ranking officials to ensure that the most favourable urban environment should be created for Ashgabat citizens and guests through harmoniously combining newly built and existing facilities in the historical centre of white-marble Ashgabat.

In this regard, the Turkmen leader noted that the modernization of the buildings located on the perimeter of the Central Square in Ashgabat was a factor in forming the original architectural ensemble and wonderful urban landscape in that part of the city. Noting that there were many areas and facilities in different parts of the city where festive events could be arranged in honour of the remarkable dates, the Turkmen leader said that the specific features of each part of the city should be taken into account when arranging festivities. The President gave instructions to Vice Premier M. Yazmuhammedova on the organisation of cultural actions and festivities in honour of significant events on the Central Square.

Ashgabat becomes more beautiful and comfortable with every passing day and amazes by its splendour and comfort, exquisite architectural style and picturesque landscape design. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that newly built facilities in that part of the city should be a harmonious component of the magnificent ensemble. Noting that the square located in the historic centre of Ashgabat would certainly become more popular among citizens and guests of Ashgabat, the Turkmen leader focused on the need to take proper care of the plantations of young trees and flowers there.

Then the Turkmen leader bade farewell to those present and wished them every success in their work. The Turkmen leader left the venue.
