OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2014. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, and the Irkutsk Region government have signed an agreement of intent in telecommunications sector development.

Baykalvestkom company that enters Tele2 and the Irkutsk Region government have signed an agreement of intent in social and economic cooperation.

The agreement is seeking to lay foundation for cooperation between Tele2 and the Irkutsk Region government in developing telecommunications infrastructure, increasing investment into local economy and implementing joint social and economic projects.

The signing of the agreement is solving an important social task – to expand network coverage and capacity in order to provide affordable mobile services. The investment project implies construction of new base stations and upgrading facilities of the current network infrastructure.

We are planning to invest not only into development of mobile infrastructure development but also contribute to prosperity of vitally important industries.”

Yekaterina Mokhkamova, Deputy Chairman of Irkutsk Region government:
“By signing the agreement the company guarantees to continue the mobile networks rollout as a part of the 2015-2016 investment program. This will let us provide mobile services to residents of small and remote areas.”
