OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2014. Valentin Gapanovich, Senior Vice-President of Russian Railways, and Marcus Montenecourt, Managing Director of Amsted Rail Company Inc's operations in the Russian Federation & Commonwealth of Independent States, have signed a letter of intent on scientific and technical cooperation.

The letter was signed at InnoTrans, an international specialised exhibition of transport equipment being held in the German capital Berlin.

The document envisages cooperation between the parties to develop innovative rolling stock, in particular, with increased load capacity. Their mutual interests include developing, testing, manufacturing, servicing and maintaining rolling stock, standardising railway equipment and unifying its units and components and harmonising the technical standards relating to the manufacture, maintenance and servicing of the equipment.

In addition, the parties have expressed interest in the mass introduction of cutting edge technology in the design of the rolling stock operated, including axle equipment and cassette bearings, across the entire 1520 mm broad gauge railway network.

Cooperation will be realised by exchanging information on the design and technological documentation, the design and manufacture of freight wagons, agreement on matters of certification and the maintenance of freight wagon units and components.
