OREANDA-NEWS. October 02, 2014. Gipronickel Research and Development Institute celebrates its 80th anniversary. Today, the institute is one of Russia’s most prominent R&D centers employing leading mineral resource mining, processing, concentration and smelting specialists.

Gipronickel’s origins are closely linked with the history of non-ferrous metals industry and country’s broader economic development. Its main accomplishments include over 100 operating metallurgical plants and over 150 underground and open pit mines located both in Russia and abroad.

Gipronickel currently functions as Norilsk Nickel’s primary R&D center, with head office located in St. Petersburg and regional branches in Norilsk and Monchegorsk. The institute performs various tasks related to modernization and development of the Company’s Kola and Taimyr production facilities (Kola MMC and Polar Division). Gipronickel’s major areas of responsibility also include implementation of design works for Bystrinsky Mining and Processing Complex in Zabaikalsky Krai.

We would like to congratulate Gipronickel on their 80th anniversary and wish them to become further involved in many new ground-breaking projects for the benefit of the industry and the country.
