OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ M1842 (5490) won in the Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia annual contest in the Truck of the Year nomination. The award ceremony took place in Moscow during the AUTOTRANS'2014 International Specialized Exhibition of Trucks, Buses & Special Vehicles.

Recognized as the most prestigious automobile award, the Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia competition is held for the fourteenth time. The world's and Russia's leading manufacturers of trucks, buses and vans officially sold and operated in the Russian Federation contend for the first prize yearly. Reputable journalists giving coverage to motor transport are usually on the jury of the competition. Among them are editors-in-chief and columnists of such periodicals as KomTrans, Avtopanorama, Avtopark and others. The main selection criterion is the vehicle's contribution to better, more efficient transportation. At the same time, the jury takes into account the latest technical solutions, operating costs, sales volumes, financial terms of vehicle acquisition, availability of services, etc.

The KAMAZ M1842 (5490) long-haul tractor is the company's significant technological breakthrough in the production of vehicles for commercial transportation. Its distinguishing feature is a cabin designed jointly with Daimler AG. This truck won in the Best Commercial Vehicle of the Year in Russia competition in 2012, but in another nomination - Prospect of the Year. KAMAZ won't rest on its laurels: several versions of M1842 will be put on the market. There will be engines of different power capacities, versions with automatic transmissions, versions without retarders (functioning as primary braking systems).
