OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2014. PT Pertamina (Persero) inaugurated New Generation Fuel Terminal Group using New Gantry System as part of the company's effort to modernize fuel distribution facilities in a bid to serve customers better and faster.

The inauguration of the New Generation Fuel Terminal (TBBM) Bandung Group – Ujung Berung was conducted by Pertamina Marketing and Trading Director Hanung Budya and Region III Marketing Manager Afandi in Babakan Panghulu Village, Cinambo Subdistrict, Bandung.

The main advantage of the implementation of the new gantry system or NGS at TBBM Bandung Group included the use of modern technology which could serve multiproduct and delivered faster and better services to customers. In terms of layout, the NGS TBBM Bandung Group – Ujung Berung was also more compact due to the use of only one filling line, from previously two, combined with the installation of pipelines built 5 meters above the ground.

NGS was also equipped with vapor discharge, a system to shift steam residue from the filling process to mobile tanks. This equipment would also be added with vapor recovery unit, a system to store steam from the process during the filling so that the steam was not directly thrown to the air.

The previous gantry system could only do filling for one product so it required 14 pump islands to fill mobile tanks. The new gantry system allowed multiproduct filling so it only required three pump islands.

The process of product blending for Biosolar distribution in the new gantry system had also used the inline blending system so it took less time compared to the old and conventional system. The speed of filling to mobile tanks also improved significantly from only 900 liter per minute previously to 2,200 liter per minute.

“The use of NGS is done at the TBBM Bandung Group, Ujung Berung, reminds us about vital role of this TBBM in distributing fuels to the people and industrial customers in Bandung, Bandung Distric, Sumedang, GArut, West Bandung, Cimahi, Purwakarta and Cianjur. We’re optimistic with this new gantry system, we can provide more optimum services to the people,” said Hanung Budya.

Historically, TBBM Bandung Group – Unjung Berung began operation on 21 March 1987 above 23.37 Ha of land on the height of 667 meters above the sea level. The fuel supply from TBBM Bandung Group – Ujung Berung came from the Lomanis fuel Terminal through the Cilacap Pipeline – Banung I & II. Currently, TBBM Bandung Group – Ujung Berung had been rejuvenated by the completion of the NGS construction and would begin operation on 18 September 2014.
