OREANDA-NEWS. October 15, 2014. Repsol and the Red Cross have signed a framework agreement to enhance collaboration between the two entities and open a new area of co-operation to further undertake activities designed to improve the life of society, particularly those people belonging to the most vulnerable communities.

The Repsol Chairman, Antonio Brufau, and the President of the Spanish Red Cross, Juan M. Suarez del Toro, signed the agreement in a ceremony that took place at the Repsol Campus, the company’s headquarters in Madrid. In the five-year agreement, Repsol and the Red Cross commit to coordinate a programme of activities designed to try to improve the quality of life of all citizens.

This agreement enhances the existing collaboration between the two entities, encompassing different areas of activity, such as the undertaking of international cooperation projects, support for the Red Cross Sea Rescue programme and activities, and marketing of the Golden Draw (Sorteo de Oro) tickets in the Repsol service station network for over a decade.

The collaborative activities renewed by this new agreement have proved fruitful and beneficial to the desired social objective. For example, Repsol service stations are the main channel for selling tickets for the Golden Draw, with which the Red Cross funds programmes for children, the elderly and disabled people, and works with human resources and materials after natural disaster related problems, and helps and trains groups with labour-related difficulties and helps them find work.

The agreement represents a new phase in the already existing collaboration between Repsol and the Spanish Red Cross for carrying out humanitarian work and social action projects aimed, in particular, at the most vulnerable communities.
