OREANDA-NEWS. The construction of the overpass, flyover and a relief road of the Mozhaisky Avenue has been completed in Moscow as part of the reconstruction of the transport interchange at the intersection of Mozhaisky Avenue and the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD). The newly constructed objects were opened to traffic on October 16 of this year.

The new two-lane exit flyover #2, which is 723 m in length, connects the inner lane of MKAD with Mozhaisky Avenue in the direction toward the center. The three-lane overpass over MKAD provides for a turnaround to the inner section of MKAD, as well as traffic access from the regions to the Mozhaisky Avenue relief road in the direction of the center, which is 840m in length.

The new transport interchange is one of the largest interchanges at intersections with MKAD. The reconstruction project will increase the road capacity of the road section and lead to improvements in traffic conditions on Mozhaisky Avenue, MKAD and at the junction with Minsky Avenue. The project includes a stage-by-stage launch of traffic along the constructed flyovers, exits and overpasses of the transport interchange.

In the beginning of August, traffic was launched on the new exit flyover #5, which enabled drivers to exit from the inner part of MKAD into the Moscow center. Exits #7 and #10, which enabled access from the outer part of MKAD to Mozhaisky Avenue in the direction toward the Moscow region and from Mozhaisky Avenue to the inner part of MKAD, were also launched into operation.

Currently, Mostotrest specialists are carrying out construction work on two more overpasses that total one kilometer in length as part of the intersection. The construction of new and reconstruction of existing left-hand and right-hand exits, side ramps, acceleration and deceleration lanes is in progress as part of the project. The project also includes the construction of new engineering networks, the construction of a pedestrian crossing over MKAD and the construction of 2 underground pedestrian crossings across Mozhaisky Avenue in Moscow and in the Moscow region.

The section is located in the Western Mozhaisky Administrative District and in the Odintsovsky District.

The construction of the interchange on the Moscow territory is to be completed before the end of 2014. Construction in the Moscow region is scheduled for completion in 2015.
