OREANDA-NEWS. October 20, 2014. Detsky Mir - the biggest children's goods chain in Russia and Kazakhstan - has released its financial statement under the Russian accounting standards for the first nine months of 2014.

The chain's revenue in the reporting period amounted to RUB 29.8bn, having grown by 23.6%.

"Detsky Mir continues demonstrating a high growth pace, which is achieved through successful implementation of the regional expansion programme," saysVladimir Chirakhov, CEO of Detsky Mir.

In the first nine months of 2014, the chain opened 33 stores in more than ten cities of Russia. The first Detsky Mir stores appeared in Biisk, Rubtsovsk, Arkhangelsk, Novy Urengoi, Bataisk, Dimitrovgrad, and Mineralnye Vody. The retailer significantly strengthened its foothold in the Moscow region, having opened 9 new super- and hypermarkets.

As of 1 October 2014, the Detsky Mir chain consisted of 255 super- and hypermarkets in 113 cities and towns of Russia and Kazakhstan.

The most significant event of the reporting period was the opening of Detsky Mir's flagship store in the centre of Moscow. The new hypermarket welcomed its first customers on 27 August 2014. The store occupies the former Voentorg building (at Vozdvizhenka street, 10)  With an area of 7,000 sq m, it is the biggest children's goods store in the CIS. Immediately upon its opening, the hypermarket became one of the chain's most successful stores. The number of its visitors exceeded 120,000 people in September.

The concept of the store is unique for Russia. Its main idea is a "store for kids," with the main focus made on its young visitors. This is why the retail space here is combined with entertaining interactive areas designed together with global producers of children's goods.
