OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2014. A new KAVZ-4270 bus running on compressed natural gas was presented for the first time during the 12th GasSUF-2014 international exhibition. The event is taking place at VDNKh exhibition center.

The CNG KAVZ-4270 bus is intended for  routes with heavy passenger traffic. This model can be produced in two versions as a city bus and a suburban bus. The bus is fitted with a Cummins engine which is compliant with Euro-5 emission standard and has a power output of 230 h.p.

The fuel gas is stored in six cylinders with a total capacity of 665 l that are mounted on the bus roof. The fully filled cylinders ensure an operating range of 475 km. The bus can carry 61-84 passengers depending on version. An area for limited mobility passengers transportation is provided in the bus. The pneumatic suspension ensures a comfortable ride thanks to low stiffness and free frequency. The kneeling system (adjustable bus tilt angle up to 7° towards the doors) ensures minimum inclination for boarding the bus for all types of passengers. While having a high environmental performance the bus is also efficient from the economic viewpoint: reduced operating expenses thanks to low cost of fuel gas, high balanced service life of the body and the engine.

At the GasSUF-2014 exhibition GAZ Group also presented future CNG buses LIAZ-529271 and PAZ-320412. The medium bus PAZ-320412 intended for city and suburban service is equipped with a Cummins CNG engine compliant with Euro-5 emission standard and a 5-speed ZF gearbox. The low-floor bus LIAZ-529271 is intended for city routes with heavy passenger traffic. The bus is equipped with a MAN CNG engine compliant with Euro-5 emission standard and an automatic transmission and axles by ZF.

The presented models extend the existing lineup of CNG/LPG products currently produced by GAZ Group. GAZ Group is a leading Russian manufacturer of CNG/LPG vehicles: the production of LIAZ CNG buses started in 2005, the LPG version of GAZelle Business launched in 2010 года, the production of  low-floor LIAZ-5292 CNG buses began in 2011, the  CNG versions of GAZelle Business LCV and PAZ-320412 medium bus launched in 2013, the preproduction of a new YAMZ CNG engine intended for commercial vehicles is currently underway. In 2014 GAZ Group developed upcoming models of light and medium duty vehicles of the NEXT family powered with fuel gas.
