OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2014. Students who scored the highest points at UNT entered the medical universities of Kazakhstan. The lowest passing score on the specialty "General Medicine" was 92 points, First Vice Minister of Health and Social Development Salidat Kairbekova said at a meeting with students of the Medical University of Semey.

During her working visit to the region to explain the President's Address to the nation of Kazakhstan "Kazakhstan's way - 2050: common goal, common interests, common future", S.Kairbekova visited Cardiac Surgery Medical University Medical Center, Consultative and Diagnostic Centre and met with final-year university students.

Salidat Kairbekova focused on the importance of improving the quality of students training during the meeting.

"Health care and medical education is one of dynamic areas where more than 20 percent of the information on the methods of diagnosis and treatment of diseases is updated annually. New technologies to produce new drugs are introduced year after year. In this regard, the requirements for the doctor charged with a great responsibility for the health and lives of patients further increased," she said.

She also recalled that the Ministry of Health has implemented the institute for independent assessment of knowledge and skills of medical universities, colleges, and practicing doctors. The assessment will be carried out using simulation technology in classrooms equipped with special equipment, mannequins and human dummies on which doctors will demonstrate their skills.

It was noted that this year, a pilot project on psychometric testing of enrollees has been implemented on the basis of S.Asfendiyarov KazNMU. These tests are conducted in order to ascertain their ability to handle stress and are capable of compassion.

On the issue of medical personnel shortage, S. Kairbekova reported that it is expected to reduce the deficit of medical personnel by 30% according to the results of the employment of 2014 graduates.

Basically, S. Kairbekova noted, the lack of staff is noted in the villages. First Vice Minister urged the students to go to work in the village after graduation. Ministry is also focused on skills development. Training of at least 20% of employees each year is provided within the national budget, which will allow training all health workers in the country, abroad and with attracting foreign specialists during 5 years. The republican institutions of education and science trained more than 100 thousand specialists in the past 3 years. More than 600 Kazakhstani specialists study abroad. Training was carried out in countries such as Japan, USA, Germany, France, Denmark, South Korea and others. Practice of conducting master classes with an invitation of the best foreign specialists has been widely implemented.

It was noted that practical level, i.e. possession of latest methods of diagnosis and treatment by a specialist is important today.
