OREANDA-NEWS. They have completed acceptance tests of EKG-20KM excavator manufactured by IZ-KARTEX named after P.G. Korobkov, a part of OMZ Group, at Lebedinsky mining and processing plant. The installation was carried out together with Mining and metallurgical company LLC under the technical supervision of IZ-KARTEX service engineers, the work on the electric drive setting up was carried out by specialists of Power Machines OJSC.

EKG-20KM excavator is the modification of the line of EKG-18P/20K commercial excavators that proved themselves successfully at Kuzbass coal mines and Uzbekistan gold mining company - Navoi GMK. The modified EKG-20KM model is specially designed for the operation in severe conditions of iron-ore pits. The active load in EKG-20KM excavator bucket is 25% more than that one of EKG-18P/20K and equals 50 tons. The increase of the active load in the bucket as compared to commercial EKG-18P/20K is gained at the cost of using of power and hoisting drives of a new design and an increased power.

For the prevention of a negative influence of increased loads on the working equipment, a set of structural and process modifications was made: an increase of the load-bearing capacity of the boom and arm was reached, and the jack boom and backstays that represented a hollow pipe earlier, were then made in the form of a welded steel structure using profiled rolled steel.

EKG-20KM excavator is equipped with a modern AC electric drive similarly to EKG-32P. The use of the excavator type AC drive ensures a high energy efficiency and reparability of the equipment, which eventually increases the reliability of the complex operation in general.
