OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2014. Senate of the Parliament adopted the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation on good-neighborliness and alliance in the twenty-first century" at the plenary session.

"Kazakhstan is considering Russia as a key political and economic partner in the Eurasian space. Development of multifaceted cooperation with Russia serves the long-term strategic interests of Kazakhstan," Foreign Affairs Minister of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov said presenting the bill.

The Minister noted that the Treaty will be one of the fundamental documents on cooperation with Russia, which reflects the basic principles of bilateral cooperation. According to him, the document aims to promote bilateral political dialogue on relevant issues in order to promote peace, stability and security in the region.

The Agreement also defines the further development vector of bilateral trade and economic relations, formation of transport corridors, water resources management and environmental cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres, as well as in the field of cultural cooperation.

The Agreement was signed by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 11, 2013 in the city of Yekaterinburg in the framework of the 10th Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Russia and Kazakhstan.
