OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2014. The State Duma of the Russian Federation unanimously (the MPs present at the voting) approved in the first reading the draft Federal Law “On Introducing Changes to the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” and Some Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation (the So-Called “Forth Antimonopoly Package”).

The draft amendments devised by the Federal Antimonopoly Service to execute the “Road Map” for developing competition and the antimonopoly regulation and in accordance with the Recommendations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). On 4th September 2014 the draft law was approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

The Head of FAS Igor Artemiev presented the draft law for consideration by the State Duma. He emphasized that 2/3 of the “forth antimonopoly package” comprise anti-bureaucratic elements.

The Head of the Antimonopoly Service pointed out that “the package of amendments considered today significantly reduces administrative barriers for business; decreases state participation in the economy and increases liability of officials of the authorities for anticompetitive actions”.
