OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2014. As InfoMarket was informed in the National Bureau of statistics, the increase in the volume of agricultural production in this period was due to the increased output in crop production by 12.4%, and livestock products – by 2.5%.

The increase in physical volume of agricultural output for 9 months of this year, in comparison with the corresponding period of 2013 contributed to the growth in the total yields of major crops by increasing average yields and rhythms of their harvest. In particular, the NBS noted an increase in the average yield of all major crops, with the exception for grapes and sunflowers. Thus, the average yield of grains and leguminous crops in Moldova in 2014 amounted to 32,1 kg/ha (+17.2% in comparison with 2013). At the same time, the average yield of wheat made up 33.8 kg/ha (+16,6%), barley - 24,9% t/ha (+12,2%), corn - 36,5 kg/ha (+7%).

The average yield of sunflower amounted to 19.3 t/ha (-7,2%), potatoes - 196,1 t/ha (+28.5%) and vegetables - 88,4 t/ha (+38,6%, pome fruit - 98.3 c/ha (+21,5%), stone fruits- 52,4 t/ha (+9,4%). The average yield of grapes amounted to 45.2 t/ha (-30%). The NBS noted that in 2014, compared with the previous year, the rhythm of the harvest of crops has grown, due to the weather conditions in this year. For this reason, the area of maize, which is harvested for 9 months of this year, than the last year is 8.3 times more, soy – by 5.1 times, sunflower - 1.8 times, potato – by 1.7 times, pome fruits and table grapes - by1.5 times.

This was the result of the increasing weight gain in cattle and pigs, as well as the increase in the average number of animals and poultry. The production of the cow milk for 9 months of 2014 decreased by 1.1% up to 389.5 thousand tons due to the lower production in the households by 2.1%- up to 373,9 thousand tons, while these indicators at the agricultural enterprises increased by 32.9%- up to 15.6 thousand tons.

Reduction of dairy production in the households was due to the reduction in number of cows by 2.8%. In January-September 2014 egg production in Moldova increased by 0.9%- up to 475,5 million. At the same time, household production of eggs in Moldova increased by 4.5%-up to 295 million, and in agricultural enterprises it decreased by 4.3%-up to of 180.5 million due to the reduction of number of hens by 14%.
