OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus reduced exports of farm products and foodstuffs by 4.1% year on year in January-August 2014 to USD 3.694 billion, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) told.

Imports of farm products and foodstuffs grew 10.5% year on year in Jan-Aug 2014 to USD 2.984 million. Hence, Belarus produced a USD 709.4 million surplus in foreign trade in farm products in Jan-Aug 2014 to compare with a USD 1.149 billion surplus in Jan-Aug 2013. Farm products and foodstuffs account for 12.9% of Belarus' total foreign trade volume in Jan-Aug 2014 (up 8 percentage points year on year), including exports - 14.7% (down 0.4 pp), imports - 11.2% (up 1.7 pp).

According to Belstat, Belarus' foreign trade in merchandize reduced 4% year on year in Jan-Aug 2014 to USD 51.872 billion, including exports - USD 25.159 billion (down 1.5%), imports - USD 26.712 billion (down 6.3%).
