OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2014. About 300,000 Moldovans holding biometric passports have travelled to the European Union in the first six months of Moldova enjoying a liberalised visa regime.

According to the Border Police, most Moldovans chose to cross the border through the Leuseni checkpoint, followed by Cahul and the Chisinau International Airport.

So far, 164 Moldovan citizens, holders of biometric passports, have been banned from entering the EU, because of failing to meet the requirements.

Moldova has had a free visa regime with the European Union since 28 April. Moldovan citizens holding biometric passports benefit from the cancellation of visas for short-term travel in the Schengen area.
