OREANDA-NEWS. It is with deep regret that NLMK Group announces that Vladimir Skorokhodov, distinguished Russian metallurgical engineer and Deputy Chairman of the NLMK Board of Directors, passed away on 31 October 2014 at the age of 63.

Oleg Bagrin, President of NLMK Group, said:

“The passing of Vladimir Skorokhodov is a huge and tragic loss for NLMK Group; for the industry as a whole; and for his friends and loved ones. He made an incalculable contribution to the development of Russian metallurgy. Vladimir was behind the creation of the group and thanks to his talent and strategic thinking the company has become a world leader of the steelmaking industry. The company sends its deepest sympathies to Vladimir Skorokhodov's family and loved ones.”

Biography of Vladimir Skorokhodov

Board member since 1996, Deputy Chairman of the Board since 2003. Member of the Strategic Planning Committee. Member of Human Resources, Remuneration and Social Policies Committee.

Between 1977 and 1991worked as junior, then senior researcher, head of laboratory, Deputy Director of the Bardin Central Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy. Between 1992 and 1994 worked as Chief Expert in the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation.

Graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1973, majored in Pressure Treatment of Metals. In 1976 completed post-graduate studies and obtained a Ph.D. in the same area. Ph.D., Tech. (1991 from the Board of Academics at the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys). Professor. Holder of the 1982 National Prize for Science and Technology. 281 academic research papers: 117 academic publications, six books, 158 patent descriptions.
