OREANDA-NEWS.  November 07, 2014. German experts recommend European investors to introduce projects in the renewable energy sector of Ukraine.

This topic was raised at a meeting of Chairman of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhii Savchuk with representatives of the Agency for Renewable Resources of the Federal Republic of Germany, the GFA Consulting Group, which took place in the office of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine.

"Today, the Government adopted the National Action Plan for Renewable Energy till 2020, called to increase the share of renewable energy in the energy balance of Ukraine up to 11%. To achieve such an ambitious goal, the Government creates the most favourable conditions for investors who wish to work in Ukraine", informed the visitors Serhii Savchuk.

Ulrich Theuerkauf, the GFA Consulting Group expert said that the decisions taken by the Government of Ukraine is an attractive incentive for making investment into renewable energy development. Moreover, he stressed that the GFA Consulting Group cooperates fruitfully with European investors and recommends introducing investment projects on renewable energy in Ukraine.

In turn, Lesya Matiyuk, an employee of the Agency for Renewable Resources of the Federal Republic of Germany informed that in the framework of the BIO-PROM project titled "Promoting sustainable production and use of bioenergy in the Russian Federation and Ukraine” in late November of the current year there starts its work a program to improve the skills and knowledge in bioenergy for Ukraine, characterized by free participation. The relevant program will involve representatives of central and local authorities to participate in it, and also members of organizations engaged in bioenergy field.

The Head of the Agency Serhii Savchuk noted the importance of the program and stressed that the Government of Ukraine had adopted the plan of short and medium - term measures to reduce consumption of natural gas for the period up to 2017 and the relevant training will be particularly useful for the local authorities.

At the end of the meeting the parties, taking into account the positive changes that have occurred in Ukraine, agreed about the necessity to sign an updated Memorandum of understanding between the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine and the Agency of Renewable Resources of the Federal Republic of Germany.
