OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2014. CCTV (China Central Television) broadcast the ceremony of the first Distinguished Engineer Award of International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China. During the ceremony, Yan Dazhou, the deputy chief engineer of China ENFI Engineering Corp. and director of the Rare Metals and Silicon Materials Design and Research Center, was granted with the 2014 Distinguished Engineer Award.

As a national model worker, Yan Dazhou is a design master in the non-ferrous metal industry as well as the famed expert in the field of polycrystalline silicon. Meanwhile, he works as the head of the national engineering laboratory of polycrystalline silicon manufacturing process and deputy secretary general of China Photovoltaic Industry Association and the polycrystalline silicon innovation strategy alliance. Since entering the service, Yan Dazhou has undertaken over 30 work programs on scientific research, design and general contracting of engineering for large and medium-sized projects of non-ferrous metals, monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon. In recent years, mainly committed to management of polycrystalline research, engineering design and production, he has taken care of five projects for the National 863 Program and the State Science and Technology Support Plan, guided his teams to complete 7 research and development topics of national levels and more than 50 research and development topics of provincial and municipal levels, with all of the relevant scientific achievements industrialized.

The year of 2005 witnessed China’s first large-scale industrial polycrystalline silicon production line for demonstration, namely, the 300 TPA polycrystalline high-tech industrial project of China Silicon Corp., which was designed under the leadership of Yan Dazhou, come on stream, which symbolized that China began to have the original technical system for polycrystalline silicon cleaner production with our own proprietary intellectual property rights, which featured “closed circulation of materials and comprehensive utilization of energy”, and that China had broke, the blockade and monopoly on techniques which were mastered by those countries with advanced polycrystalline silicon manufacturing processing, with the

Chinese polycrystalline silicon industry beginning to be established . Over the 9 years since then, China Silicon Corp. has produced 28000 tons of polycrystalline silicon that is urgently needed by the photovoltaic and electronic information industries of China and paid taxes of RMB 1.39 billion. In the wake of the downturn for the polycrystalline silicon industry in 2012, China Silicon Corp. has successfully resumed its polycrystalline silicon production and substantially reduced its energy consumption thanks to the efforts of Yan Dazhou and his teams to consistently improve and innovate the techniques, lower production cost and upgrade the cleaner production levels. Till now, China ENFI Engineering Corp has established the polycrystalline silicon production line with the annual output of 10 thousand tons and it is expected that the corporation’s output of polycrystalline silicon will rank 7th in the world this year.

In the process of award laureate appraisal and selection, which is based on the rules stipulated in “the Means on the Distinguished Engineer Awards of the International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China” and goes through the procedures of recommendation by China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association, examination by the award-related work office, preliminary assessment by the professional review group, final assessment by the review committee and examination and approval by the award committee, totally 30 “distinguished engineers ” and 66 “encouraged engineers ” are selected, who are all the primary characters committed to the frontline of production or construction in the fields of engineering design, development and manufacturing in the industries ranging from materials, machinery, electronic information, biological medicine, energy, geological minerals, etc, and have made enormous contributions to innovation of engineering technology and transformation and application of scientific achievements.

The honor to be granted with such an award represents strong endorsement for the achievements that Yan Dazhou and his teams have obtained in terms of technological innovation, promotion of scientific fruits transformation and scientific breakthroughs and will further encourage China ENFI Engineering Corp and China Silicon Corp. to make more contributions to building up China’s polycrystalline silicon industry, promoting cleaner and low-cost photovoltaic power generation and improving energy structure adjustment and smog harnessing by means of consistent scientific exploration.
