OREANDA-NEWS. Energoatom has opened a Representative Office in Brussels, the capital of Europe.

Announcing this at a Reception held at the Press Club in Brussels today (Wednesday 5th November), President of the company, Yuriy Nedashkovsky said that the opening of the Energoatom Representative Office in Brussels marked an important step in the integration of Energoatom's strategies with European Energy Policy.

“Our company produces almost 50% of Ukraine's domestic electricity,” he said, “And we face an important task in meeting the needs of households and businesses this winter to maintain stable energy supplies.”

The new Head of the Energoatom Representative Office Andrii Tiurin explained that Energoatom is already a member of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), The World Nuclear Association (WNA), the International Atomic Energy Association's project on innovative nuclear reactors and fuel cycles (INPRO) and the Ukraine Nuclear Society. “One of the key tasks of the new Officewill be toco-ordinaterepresentationwith European industry and international energy sector organisations,” Mr Tiurin said. “As a good corporate citizen, Energoatom wishes to adopt the highest standards of governance in accordance with European and International norms. It will be an important objective for me to follow public policy and regulatory developments in the EU in respect of energy and climate change, and to assist Energoatom to make a constructive contribution to the European debate,” he concluded.
