OREANDA-NEWS. Hydropower units No. 7 and 8 with a capacity of 333 MW each have been switched to continuous commercial operation at Boguchanskaya HPP. The aggregate design capacity of eight units currently in service has amounted to 2667 MW. The last unit, No. 9, is scheduled to be commissioned in late 2014.

Certificates of readiness were signed following commissioning tests and inline trial operation of equipment under load to verify that the hydropower units are ready for commercial operation. The tests were conducted by operation engineers from Boguchanskaya HPP OJSC and were supervised by the equipment manufacturer - Power Machines. The tests demonstrated that all equipment parameters met reliability and security requirements.

As required in the contracts signed in 2006-2007 between Power Machines and construction project partners - RusHydro and Rusal, Power Machines shall design and manufacture nine hydroturbines and nine hydrogenerators with a rated capacity of 333 MW each for Boguchanskaya HPP. Besides, Power Machines will provide installation supervision and commissioning of the equipment supplied.

The first three units of Boguchanskaya HPP, under plant numbers 1, 2 and 3, were launched into commercial operation in November 2012, and units No. 4, 5 and 6 in January, November and December 2013 respectively.
