OREANDA-NEWS. November 19, 2014. The bauxite will be run out in Arkalyk in 8 years, and the question of the existence of the city will be brought up, Vice Minister of Investment and Development Albert Rau said.

"I would like to focus on Arkalyk. We are engaged in Arkalyk subject, I can say one thing today. The main problem of Arkalyk - is that bauxite has remained for 8 years. The respected ENRC (Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation - Ed.) is going to leave after 8 years. There are no options. All that could be explored around, we were exploring, there's nothing interesting there. Except for one object, which is to the north, 100 km under Yesil. There is 1 billion tonnes of iron ore. "Tau-Ken Samruk" is there now - A.Rau said during an extended meeting of the Council on Regional Policy and work with maslikhats at the fraction of "Nur Otan" in Majilis on the theme: "On development of monotowns."

He stressed that in this connection it is necessary to reorient labor of Arkalyk to iron ore. "I believe that the "Tau-Ken Samruk" should make the people, it is 1.5 thousand workers who mine bauxite, begin to mine iron ore in 8 years. There is not another alternative. Otherwise, if there is no city-forming enterprise, a big question about existence of Arkalyk will rise," Vice Minister of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan summed up.
