OREANDA-NEWS. General Motors received a perfect 100 percent score on the 2015 Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LBGT) workplace equality administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

GM, which has been among the top corporate supporters of LBGT workplace equality for seven of the last eight years, was among 366 major U.S. businesses earning top marks this year.

"A diverse workforce and customer base is the cornerstone of our future, and this achievement is a reflection of our dedication to a genuine focus on LGBT employees and consumers," said GM Chief Diversity Officer Ken Barrett.

The 2015 Index rated 971 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community. GM's efforts in satisfying all criteria resulted in being designated a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
