OREANDA-NEWS. Sales of passenger cars in Europe, including the EFTA countries, increased by 6.2% to 1,112 628 cars in October. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), among the largest car markets in Europe the fall was shown only by France (-3.8%), whereas in the other countries it was recorded an increase - from 3.7% in Germany to 26.1% in Spain. By the end of ten months in 2014 car sales in Europe were 11 020 107 units - it is more by 5.9% than a year before.

As noted in the review of the European car market for October, the largest number of cars among automakers was sold in the European Union by Volkswagen - 141,975 vehicles (+ 5.3%). Second place is kept by Ford, which sold 78110 cars - it is more by 4% than the year before. The third place was occupied by Renault, whose sales rose by 5.3% to 77,924 units. Opel / Vauxhall (70,064 units, + 11.4%) and Peugeot (67,932 units, + 1.5%) are completing the "five" leaders.
