OREANDA-NEWS. On November 12, 2014 Vladimir Putin gave the command to launch final hydroelectric unit at the largest power station in Russia, which meant completion of renovations and repairs at Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam. ABS Electro specialists participated actively in repair works at the power station.

Numerous projects have been implemented within long-lasting reliable partnership between ABS Electro and RusHydro. In the frame of Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam's renovation project RusHydro and VNIIR Hydroelectric Automation, specialized in implementation of integrated projects within hydroelectricity, power generation and distribution, signed a contract for delivery, installation supervision and commissioning of 6 kV switchgears, generator busbars and auxiliaries for bay connection.

ABS ZEIM Automation completed a large order to manufacture and deliver current leads for the dam. Various generator voltage and auxiliary current leads were delivered for site in two batches. Equipment from the first batch, delivered in October 2011, was installed on the fourth power unit, consisting of two generators, main transformer and current leads. On March 10, 2012 the fourth power unit was launched. The second batch of current leads, designed for the fifth power unit, was also delivered in March within the terms of the contract.

ABS Electrotekhnika manufactured and launched switchgears with auxiliary distribution switchboards. In total 128 switchgears on the basis of water and dustproof C-140 bays, meeting latest technical requirements, were shipped for the station.

In late August 2014 VNIIR-Progress delivered KOMETA© adaptive antenna arrays designed to increase interference immunity of global navigation satellite systems. Cyber safety issues have been raised recently in power industry due to active development of modern technologies which revealed GLONASS' insecurity. VNIIR-Progress' novelty, unique device for signal protection, will be utilized at Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam to enhance immunity of satellite synchronization channels.

During repairs it was important to fulfill scheduled tasks and to retrofit hydroelectric power plant. Our specialists' work was highly appreciated and acknowledged. ABS Electro continues cooperation with RusHydro on various sites.

Accident at Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam in 2009 became one of the largest industrial disasters in Russia. Restoration and renovation of the main national hydroelectric power station took five years. According to the President of Russia, Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam is a new modern facility for performance of advanced tasks.
