OREANDA-NEWS. Product shipments by Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) stood at 2.889 million tonnes in January-October 2014, up 4.7% on the year, an official with the plant told.

In October alone, shipments grew 17.4% year on year to 220,699 tonnes.

Cast iron shipments totalled 429,549 tonnes, up 49.8% year on year, rolled steel - 1.121 million tonnes (down 3.5%), steel pipes - 116,483 tonnes (4.8%), hardware - 369,908 tonnes (up 5.5%),

Metal cord shipments stood at 74,282 tonnes in Jan-Oct 2014, up 6.1%, bead wire - 32,315 tonnes, down 0.6%, brass-coated steel wire for high-pressure hoses - 32,070 tonnes, up 10.7%, steel wire - 230,241 tonnes, up 5.5%.

BMZ steel output amounted to 2.055 million tonnes in January-October 2014, up 6.4% on the year; rolled stock - 1.742 million tonnes (down 4.8%), steel pipes - 117,584 tonnes (up 6.4%).

Hardware output totalled 357,120 tonnes, up 7% year on year, including metal cord output - 68,633 tonnes, up 10.2%, bead wire - 32,081 tonnes, up 6.6%, brass-coated steel wire for high-pressure hoses - 30,796 tonnes, up 30%, steel wire - 225,611 tonnes, up 28%.

State-owned company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. In 2013 BMZ products were exported to the EU, Russia, the Middle East, Ukraine, the United States, Africa, South Africa. The EU, the Middle East and Russia account for almost 90% of the BMZ's total exports.
