OREANDA-NEWS. November 28, 2014. The third class of graduates were awarded certificates marking their completion of the “Finance and Management for Bankers” and “Sberbank 500” programs during the awards ceremony at Sberbank’s new corporate university campus. CEO and Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, Herman Gref, congratulated the graduates.

Finance and Management for Bankers and Sberbank 500 were created in 2011 as part of efforts to help Sberbank become one of the best banks in the word. The scale of the programs, the caliber of teachers, the Leaders Teach Leaders initiative, and the use of online platforms that facilitate a modern educational process make these programs unique.

The Finance and Management for Bankers program is carried out in cooperation with the London Business School. Top managers including Central Office vice-presidents and department directors and 11 of 16 Regional Bank chairman have completed the program. The third class of graduates includes two senior vice-presidents from DenizBank, a Turkish subsidiary of Sberbank, and three directors of leading Russian companies, strategic partners of Sberbank: Rosatom and Rostelecom.

The Sberbank 500 program is carried out in cooperation with the business school INSEAD and the Russian Economic School, and aims to create a new generation of middle managers. More than 1,300 Sberbank managers have graduated from the program since its launch. The program is different in that it is highly customized. In accordance with the priorities outlined in Sberbank’s strategy, beginning in 2014 three special courses have been added to the curriculum: Modern IT Management, Risk Management and Corporate Culture. As part of the Leaders Teach Leaders initiative the teachers of the special courses are directors at the Bank.

“About 1,500 Sberbank managers have graduated from this program over the course of three years and today they are leading the process of change at the Bank,” said Herman Gref. “Since 2014 program participants have also included directors of other companies – our strategic partners. Opening this new corporate university campus, which embraces the latest resources for preparing modern managers, will allow us to prepare a new generation of top-notch leaders.”
