OREANDA-NEWS. Power Machines OJSC and Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP OJSC, being constructed by RusHydro OJSC in Magadan Region, have concluded a contract on delivery of key power production equipment for hydraulic unit No. 3. Contract value amounts to RUB 1.76 bln, VAT included.

Conclusion of the contract was preceded by a contest won by Power Machines OJSC with the best technical and economical solution.

In accordance with the contract conditions, Power Machines are to manufacture and supply for the RusHydro HPP a hydroturbine with capacity of 142.5 MW, generator with feed system and an automated control system (ACS) for the hydraulic unit. Apart from that, the Saint Petersburg power machines manufacturing company specialists will provide mounting and adjustment supervision services. It is planned to complete equipment delivery by 2016 and to commission the Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP hydraulic unit by 2018.

Currently there are two hydraulic units operating at Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP, No. 1 and No. 2, manufactured and supplied by Power Machines in early 2000's.

Commissioning of the plant would provide power for developing mining enterprises, mainly for the gold mining ones. Apart from that, HPP would contribute for navigation by managing the reservoir of Kolyma. It would become possible to abandon thermal power plants construction, thus reducing imported fuel consuming and reducing the electricity rates at the expense of decreased production costs.

Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP would greatly increase the power safety of the region. Before commissioning of Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP the needs of isolated Magadan power system were met by 95% by the only power plant, Kolymskaya HPP. Magadan Region has currently a reserve of highly maneuverable generating power source that positively affects the safety of power supply to the population and industrial enterprises.
