OREANDA-NEWS. At present, there are 7 new lines, 6 gauge conversion, 2 doubling and 3 railway electrification ongoing railway projects under North Eastern Railway. An expenditure of ` 4309 crore has been incurred upto March, 2014 and an outlay of ` 402.65 crore has been provided for these projects for the year 2014-15. Due to huge throwforward of ongoing projects and limited overall availability of funds, it is not possible to provide adequate funds to all the projects on a regular basis which is a pre-requisite to fix the time lines.

Barabanki-Gonda and Chhapra-Siwan-Thawe sections of North Eastern Railway, have already been opened for electric traction.
