OREANDA-NEWS. Russian power engineering company Technopromexport is holding talks over taking part in building the Diamer-Bhasha Dam hydropower plant in Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, the country's economy and finance minister, said Monday.

"We recently discussed large-scale projects in the hydropower sector, including construction and equipment supplies for the Diamer-Bhasha Dam hydropower plant with a capacity of 4.5 megawatts. The size of investment program amounts to USD 10-12 billion," Dar said, adding that Chinese investors were also showing interest to the project.

He also said that Russian investors were also in talks to take part in projects to reconstruct the Guddu, Muzaffargarh, and Jamshoro thermal power plants in Pakistan. "There is also interest in projects of Gadani Power Park. Russia is ready to invest money there. RusHydro and Inter RAO are also interested in the Pakistani projects in the hydropower sector. And Power Machines is ready to act as a supplier of equipment," he said.

Part of industrial corporation Rostec, Technopromexport focuses on the construction of electric power plants, power transmission lines, and substations.
