OREANDA-NEWS. On November 27th, in the Kaluga industrial cluster Volvo Group it was opened a plant for the production of cabins for trucks Volvo Trucks and Renault Trucks. According to the CEO of Volvo Group in Russia, Peter Andersson, a new plant for welding and painting cabins is another step forwards the improving of the level of localization of production Volvo Group, which became the first foreign manufacturers of trucks, cabs that started the production in Russia.

Plant for welding and painting of cabins Volvo Group in Kaluga is located next door to the plant for the production of trucks Volvo Group, as well as plants for the production of excavators Volvo. The initial design capacity of the plant is 15,000 cabs per year, among which 10 thousand cabins are produced for trucks Volvo Trucks, and 5,000 cabins per year - for Renault Trucks. Thus, the production volumes coincide with the stated at the plant trucks Volvo Group in Kaluga, which was opened in January of 2009.

Investments in construction of the plant of cabins Volvo Group was about 90 million Euro. Plant area is - 2.96 hectares, the area of industrial and warehouse space - 25,000 sq.m. Estimated staff - is 350 people. Production workshop consists of three main sections: the warehouse, welding of cabins from stamped items, paint of cabs. After the end of the production cycle it is carried out cabin storage and loading of cabins for delivery to the final assembly line in the plant truck Volvo Group in Kaluga.

For the first time Volvo Group announced its intention to establish its own production of cabins in Russia in September of 2012, and in June of 2013 it took place the first stone in its foundation. By the autumn of 2014 all construction and commissioning works were finished and it was started the mass production.

"We have taken on a long-term commitment to develop our industrial production in Kaluga. From now on, the production of trucks is added by plant of cabins, which includes welding and painting of the most modern technologies. It is very important the fact that both plants meet fully all the requirements of the production system Volvo", - said the senior vice president of production Volvo Group, Olivier Vidal.
