OREANDA-NEWS. According to the agency "Auto-Dealer-SPb", for 10 months in 2014 the St. Petersburg car plants Toyota, GM, Nissan and Hyundai produce 301,000 new passenger cars - it is less by 7% than in the same period last year. In October, it was recorded the strongest decline in production at the end of one month in the history of the automotive cluster of St. Petersburg - the production decreased by 23% to 28,300 vehicles. Less than this year it was made in July and August, when the plants were traditionally stopped for summer vacations.

Again, as in September, the plant General Motors was not working 2\3 of month. At the same time, the company is preparing gradually for large-production of new cars Chevrolet and Cadillac.

"Such a strong decline in production in October due to not only the idle of GM, but also to the high base of the last autumn", - says the CEO of "Auto-Dealer-SPb", Michael Chaplygin. - The current pause in the growth of the production car manufacturers is used to prepare for the production of new models. Next year indicators of urban car industry, with the implementation of the current plan of automakers, may begin to grow. "

Despite such negative trends of the last month, the share of the St. Petersburg car industry with respect to the all-Russian automobile production has increased - for 10 months, it was 21.4% (vs. 21% for the first three quarters).

"Once again, the city urban industry was supported by the stop of the conveyors at other Russian plants - in particular, AvtoVAZ, Ford-Vsevolozhsk, Volkswagen', - said Mikhail Chaplygin.

Four car plants of St. Petersburg produce 13 car models: Chevrolet Cruze, Opel Astra, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Cadillac ATS, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac SRX, NissanTeana, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris, KIA Rio. Five of them - Solaris, Rio, Camry, Cruze and Astra - at the end of ten months of 2014 entered the Top 25 of best-selling car models in Russia.
