OREANDA-NEWS. Alcoa Russia is included in the Top 10 list of the 7th Leaders in Corporate Philanthropy ranking. In 2014, the jury of this project assessed 59 largest Russian and international companies working on the territory of Russia. Alcoa Russia also received one of four special awards established in this project for the first time - Award for the Impact Measurement Approach.

Alcoa Russia President Maxim Smirnov commented on the importance of external experts' assessment for the company :"Working with Alcoa Foundation in the communities where Alcoa Russia has presence we set specific measurable goals. With this approach we see positive changes resulting from the long-term investments in our key themes - education, environment, healthy lifestyles among young people. Our participation in the Leaders of Corporate Philanthropy ranking is an excellent opportunity to get a feedback on our work from leading experts".

Since 2005, Alcoa and Alcoa Foundation have invested USD 9.5 million in Russia. In partnership with NGOs they implement programs aimed at talent retention in the technical field, building leadership in environment protection, reforestation and greening communities, healthy lifestyles among youth. These contributions are further strengthened with through employees' volunteerism. In October, during the Month of Service Alcoa Russia volunteers dedicated 7.5 thousand hours of their time in about 50 events to help their communities in Samara, Belaya Kalitva and Moscow.

Leaders of Corporate Philanthropy is a joint project by Vedomosti business daily, international auditing-consulting network of PwC companies and the 'Donors Forum' non-profit partnership of grant-making organizations. Its goal is to promote and develop the philanthropy culture of the business. The methodology of this project aims to assess all aspects of companies' work in the community including the policy, strategy, alignment with business, approach to partnerships, results of contributions, impact evaluation, stakeholder consultations, etc.
