OREANDA-NEWS. JSC Inter RAO started delivering electricity to Georgian energy system for further sale in Turkey. The new delivery route was made possible by the launch of the Akhaltsikhe-Borçka 400 kV international transmission line with a back-to-back station connecting energy systems of Georgia and Turkey, and by the partnership with Georgian power infrastructure operators.

Up to 300 MW may be delivered depending on technical capabilities of Russian ECO South and Georgian energy system in the fall-winter season. Deliveries will only be made when they are profitable.

JSC Inter RAO is planning to use the new delivery route to Turkey via Georgia to increase its share in the emerging Turkish market and expand the export sales geography of Russian electricity.
