OREANDA-NEWS. Sydney Airport has been recognised as Australia's best airport in Australian Traveller magazine's People's Choice Awards.

"We're delighted and proud to have been voted Australia's best airport in Australian Traveller magazine's People's Choice Awards," Sydney Airport chief executive officer Kerrie Mather said.

"We are focused on refining our offering based on our customers' feedback and it was great that Australian Traveller readers acknowledged the fantastic range of food and fashion choices available at Sydney Airport.

"Over the past two years, we have brought Australia's best brands to the airport, including Country Road, David Lawrence, Witchery, Oxford, Marcs and Seed Heritage, providing our customers the best selection of fashion and accessories for their travels.

"We've also enhanced our food and beverage offer to provide more range and quality fresh takeaway and dine-in options, introducing Toby's Estate, Brasserie Bread, Coopers Alehouse and the award-winning Movida.

"Sydney Airport has invested more than USD 2.4 billion in new facilities and capacity since 2002 and we will invest a further USD 1.2 billion over the next five years, including on transformational road works to make it easier to travel to and from the airport."

Australian Traveller editor Georgia Rickard said it was the fourth People's Choice Awards but the first time an airport category had been included.

"Sydney Airport is a great example of what all airports are going to look like," Ms Rickard said.

"As far as domestic airports go, Sydney is showing the most advanced offering. The fact that it is doing it well and people are voting for it speaks volumes."
