OREANDA-NEWS. According to the Association of European Businesses, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in November fell by 1.1% to 229,439 vehicles. For the eleven months of 2014 Russian car market fell by 11.6% to 2,220,751 cars.

According to AEB, sales of November exceeded sales in October and they almost reached the level of November of the last year. In recent weeks, it was observed an unprecedented demand for cars in retail; it was supported by the program of government subsidies and the mood of buyers, rushing to make purchases before the expected rise in prices in the new year. Forecast for December is also quite optimistic, which increases the chances for a decent closing of this difficult year for the Russian car market. According to the latest forecast of AEB, in 2014 the Russian car market will be 2,450,000 cars, which is less by 12% than the last year.

Leadership in the Russian car market is kept by AvtoVAZ, which sold in November 30,402 cars, which is less by 17% than a year ago. Thus, after a slight increase in October, by the results of the last month sales of Lada are again gone “in the red”. Second place by sales is kept by KIA – sales of 20,678 cars (+ 19%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the market of foreign cars. Sales of Renault are on the third place of the ranking, whose result was 19,170 cars (+ 8%). The fourth place is occupied by Hyundai - cars of this brand were chosen by 16,154 buyers (+ 4%). Toyota closes the "Top-five" of leaders, which sold 15,952 cars (+ 32%). The Top 10 best-selling brands at the end of November also included Nissan (15,566 units, + 7%), Volkswagen (11,081 units, -14%), Chevrolet (10,545 units, -22%), Mitsubishi (7846 units; + 11%) and Skoda (7604 units, + 3%).
