OREANDA-NEWS. December 17, 2014. MCC Baosteel Technology Services Co., Ltd. (BTS) announced that, on December 2, 2014, it was successfully awarded with the manufacturing contract for two sets of slag ladle tilting devices, which are designed with the largest deadweight tonnage in the world.

The slag ladle tilting device shall be equipped on the frame platform on the top of the slag-processing roller. It mainly consists of five parts, namely tilting rack, horizontal movable device, rotary apparatus, locking mechanism and retaining mechanism.

It is designed with various functions, for instance, support, clamping of slag ladle, horizontal moving of slag ladle, tilting of slag ladle and slag-filling in the slag notch of the slag-processing roller. After application by Baosteel for years, it has been fully recognized by its safety, reliability and the continuous stability of the materials-filling operation, and thus for the first time developed a brand new discharging method under high temperature in this regard.

This slag ladle tilting device is specially manufactured for the slag-processing roller workshop of Baosteel’s Zhanjiang Steel Works. As a patent product, it is jointly developed by Baosteel’s design institute and Shanghai Yaoqin Metallurgical Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., and will be used together with the slag ladle of 36 cubic meters. The device is 15m in length, 9m in width and 4m in height, each with a weight of 122 tons. It should be noted that, the tilting rack is designed with a self-weight of 50 tons and a deadweight of 150 tons, therefore it is deemed to be the slag ladle tilting device with the largest deadweight tonnage in the world.
