OREANDA-NEWS. The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is hosting the final challenge of the Wearable World Invents: "The Connected Airport" hackathon series, a competition to develop the next great mobile app for travelers to use in airports. The event, which began in San Francisco last month, has been narrowed to a field of five app developers, who will test their prototypes in the real environment of an airport terminal at SFO. After a winner is chosen, Airport staff will then work with the developers to build and integrate the applications for real travelers to use.

"We are an Airport that values innovation," said San Francisco International Airport Director John L. Martin. "We welcome the creative efforts of Wearable World, and we look forward to the next great idea that transforms the travel experience for our guests."

The Wearable World Invents series has already yielded mobile apps that price out ground transportation options, find fun things to do while waiting for a flight, and providing navigation inside airport terminals.
