OREANDA-NEWS. With the purpose of improving its production processes through decreasing the cost of processing the production waste and abatement of a negative impact on the environment, NPO Saturn (a company in UEC belonging to the Rostec State Corporation) plans to start using a vacuum-distillation system. A public discussion dedicated to that project was held on 23 December 2014 at NPO Saturn’s Training center.

A German installation designed to process coolant waste is located in the fuels and lubricants area of the NPO Saturn indirect materials and transport department. The operation of the installation in test mode has demonstrated that there was no harmful impact on the environment. At the moment the company is working on obtaining a license which will allow it to use the installation for neutralization of this type of waste. Holding a public discussion on the subject matter was a prerequisite to the licensing process.
In the course of the discussion it was stated that the applied innovative technology is the most efficient in terms of ecological impact and savings. The installation will allow to process waste without using chemical agents on the company’s site, render such a service to external organizations and preclude discharge of polluted coolant into the sewer system. The high quality of the resulting distillate allows to use it in the emulsion preparation. The economic effect that can be achieved due to decreasing the cost of coolant disposal will exceed RUR 2.5 million per year.
