OREANDA-NEWS. December 31, 2014. The Welding Materials Co., Ltd. of MCC Baosteel Technology Services Co., Ltd. (BTS) announced that, its Standardized Trial Project on Circular Economy of Welding Wire Production smoothly passed through the acceptance inspection jointly undertaken by expert team of the Quality & technology supervision Bureau and the Economic & Information Commission of Jiangsu Province.

This marks that, BTS has established itself into China’s first Standardized Demonstration Enterprise for Circular Economy of Welding Wire Production.

As the only one Standardized Trial Project on Circular Economy of Welding Wire Production in China, it was included in the government document for such trial projects jointly launched by the Quality & technology supervision Bureau and the Economic & Information Commission of Jiangsu Province in July 2012. During the trial practice in the past two years, the Welding Materials Co., Ltd. of BTS set up a completed and reproducible system for standardized management, production, technology and operation. As a result, the company has made remarkable achievements of circular economy in the fields of recycling utilization of waste water, reduction of power consumption, welding wire production without copper and saving of consumables. This project will not only effectively cut down the resource consumption, but also reduce the economic burden of the enterprise.

During the establishment of the Standardized Demonstration Enterprise, the Welding Materials Co., Ltd. of BTS acted according to the principles of “Energy conservation, consumption cut-down, pollution reduction and efficiency enhancement”, and intensified efforts on technical process improvement and innovation. By means of the newly-added water treatment device, the recycling utilization of water is promoted and the consumption volume of tap water is decreased. As a matter of fact, the annual water consumption volume has been reduced to less than 6,000 tons, the annual discharge volume of industrial sewage has been reduced to less than 20,000 tons, 80% of the living and industrial water can be put into recycling utilization. In addition, the traditional torque and slip-motor controlling system has been replaced by a controlling system with integrated function of machinery and frequency control for motor speed.

This has been effectively reduced the reactive loss of the grid, and the annual reduction of power consumption is estimated to be about 20%. With regard to the welding wire production technology without copper plating, the copper problems in the sewage has been resolved, and the harm caused by copper to operators during the utilization of welding wire has been reduced. Moreover, the small package (like plastic tray) has been replaced by large package (like paper tube) for the welding wire, thus 45kg of plastic materials can be saved for each ton of welding wire.
