Cash Equity Market

  1. Trading volume for 1st Section domestic stocks (excluding preferred stocks) was 612.74380 billion shares, the second-highest level in the history of the market. Trading value was JPY 576.4020 trillion, the fourth highest on record after 2007, 2006, and 2013.
  2. Trading value for domestic ETFs in 2014 was 5.69 billion units (daily average: 23.33 million units) and trading value was JPY 32.9 trillion (daily average: JPY 134.9 billion), both new all-time records.
  3. Trading volume for domestic stocks listed on the Mothers market in 2014 was 23.0 billion shares (daily average: 94.40 million shares) and trading value was JPY 34.9 trillion (daily average: JPY 143.3 billion), both new all-time records.
  4. REIT trading volume in 2014 was an all-time record of 38.41 million units (daily average: 157,000 units) while trading value was JPY 7.9 trillion (daily average: JPY 32.4 billion), the second-highest level on record.
  5. The number of ETFs tracking the new JPX-Nikkei 400 grew to five issues, with total trading value for December rising to JPY 86.7 billion.

Derivatives Market

  1. Total trading volume for the derivatives market in 2014 was 39,728,778 contracts, exceeding 300 million contracts for the second consecutive year. Daily average trading volume for JPX-Nikkei 400 futures, newly launched on November 25, was 64,254 contracts.
  2. Annual trading volume for Nikkei 225 mini in 2014 was 199,121,967 contracts, the second-highest level on record.
  3. Annual trading volume for TOPIX futures in 2014 was 20,877,250 contracts, the second-highest level on record.
  4. Annual trading volumes for mini TOPIX futures, DJIA futures, Nikkei 225 VI futures, and TSE REIT Index futures in 2014 all grew sharply from the previous year to set new all-time records.
  5. Trading volume for the night session for December was 11,344,671 contracts. The ratio of the night session was 33.9%, the second-highest level on record.
