OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus reduced exports of farm products and foodstuffs by 1.8% year on year in January-October 2014 to USD 4.725 billion, the National Statistics Committee of Belarus (Belstat) told.

Imports of farm products and foodstuffs grew 15.7% year on year in Jan-Oct 2014 to USD 3.884 million. Hence, Belarus produced an USD 841.5 million surplus in foreign trade in farm products in Jan-Oct 2014 to compare with a USD 1.453 billion surplus in Jan-Oct 2013.

Farm products and foodstuffs account for 13.3% of Belarus' total foreign trade volume in Jan-Oct 2014 (up 1.1 percentage points year on year), including exports - 15.2% (down 0.2 pp), imports - 11.6% (up 2.1 pp).

According to Belstat, Belarus' foreign trade in merchandize reduced 3% year on year in Jan-Oct 2014 to USD 64.738 billion, including exports - USD 31.136 billion (down 0.4%), imports - USD 33.602 billion (down 5.8%).
